Day 1: USA or Canada/Bangkok, Thailand:

Depart on an overnight flight to Bangkok.

Day 2: Bangkok:

Bangkok is a unique city with a fascinating waterborne life, where business is often carried out on the intricate systems of Klongs (canals). Divided in two by the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok proper is on the east side and Thonburi on the west; your hotel is ideally located on the shores of the river.

Meals Served:

Day 3: Bangkok:

Begin your day with a private visit to the Prasart Museum. Located in a lush tropical garden, the museum houses replicas of traditional buildings, including a golden teak palace inspired by the royal residence, a Sukhothai Period teak library, a Chinese temple and water garden, a Khmer shrine and a 19th-century European-style mansion. Later, join fellow travellers for cocktails and dinner to welcome the start of your exciting adventure.

Meals Served: B L D

Day 4: Bangkok:

This morning, you have the opportunity to make a food offering to the monks and receive a blessing of good karma in return. Then cruise along Bangkok's famous canals. As your long-tail boat travels along the hidden klongs of the Chao Phraya River, discover the unspoiled way of life of the people who live along her banks. Continue to visit the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Your afternoon is at leisure.

Meals Served: B L

Day 5: Bangkok/Chiang Rai:

Fly to Chiang Rai, founded in 1262 by King Mengrai as the nation's first independent kingdom. Transfer to your resort located in the picturesque Golden Triangle, the area where Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. In the afternoon, head to Chiang Saen where you board a boat for a cruise on the Khong River. Gazing from the bow of your riverboat, take in the breathtaking view over three countries as you pass through the Golden Triangle.

Meals Served: B

Day 6: Chiang Rai:

Spend a full day exploring the hill tribe area, the mountainous northern border district of Mae Sai and Doi Tung, where members of the semi-nomadic ethnic minorities live. After lunch, visit the fascinating Opium Museum.

Meals Served: B L

Day 7: Chiang Rai/Chiang Mai:

Depart overland for Chiang Mai, visiting a hill tribe village en route. Caught somewhere between the sixth and 20th centuries, the hill tribe people are gradually being assimilated into modern Thai life. After lunch, the afternoon is at leisure to enjoy your luxurious resort. This evening, shop for silks, clothing, handicrafts and other treasures at Chiang Mai's famous Night Market.

Day 9: Chiang Mai:

Spend the morning with elephants at the Mae Sa Elephant Training Camp. Learn to communicate with these gentle giants with the help of personal mahout training. Don an indigo blue uniform and learn the basic commands that enable you to ride, bathe and even paint with the elephants. After sampling the specialties of Chiang Mai cuisine at a local restaurant, return to your idyllic resort, where the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy as you choose.

Meals Served: B L
