Day 1 - Welcome to Tokyo!
Check in to the city-center hotel of your choice, the superior first class Grand Palace or the deluxe Keio Plaza.

Day 2 - A morning tour...
Your morning sightseeing tour begins atop Tokyo Tower for great views over the city. With clear skies, you might even espy Mt. Fuji in the distance. Continue to the picturesque Imperial Palace Plaza and drive through Akihabara Electric Town. Then stroll among the traditional merchants of the colorful Nakamise Arcade to visit Asakusa Kannon Temple, the oldest in the city. Your tour ends downtown at Tokyo Station where dining and shopping options abound. Meals B

Day 3 - Tokyo as you please
A free day to enjoy at your own pace. Your hotel’s heart-of-it-all location makes it so easy to explore, shop and dine on your own! From April to November a tour is available to visit the magnificent Toshogu Shrine, set against the splendor of Nikko National Park#WHS#. Meals B

Day 4 - Ride the Bullet Train to Kyoto
Step aboard the famous Shinkansen (Bullet Train) at Tokyo Station. Traveling safely at speeds up to 180 miles per hours, you’ll arrive in Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan and still very much the spiritual and artistic heart of the country. Upon arrival, transfer to your choice of hotel, the first class New Miyako Hotel close by Kyoto Rail Station or the deluxe ANA Kyoto Hotel, well situated close to Nijo Castle. Meals B

Discover Mt. Fuji & Hakone National Park… Rather than traveling directly to Kyoto today, you can enhance your journey with an overnight stay in beautiful Hakone, including sightseeing and a cruise on Lake Ashi. See Day 7 for more information.

Day 5 - Out and about in Kyoto
Your morning sightseeing tour explores the city’s most significant sites, starting with the oft-photographed Kinkaku-ji Temple#WHS#; this Golden Pavilion shimmers in its tranquil setting surrounded by pine forests on the edge of a peaceful pond. Then enter into the Age of the Samurai at Nijo Castle#WHS#. Marvel at the ingenuity of the famed Nightingale Floor, cleverly designed to chirp in warning if intruders gained entry into the Shogun’s quarters! Visit the Kyoto Imperial Palace#WHS# and end your sightseeing at the Kyoto Handicraft Center. Meals B

Day 6 - Day at leisure
You have the entire day to spend as you wish. You can join an available tour to ancient Nara to visit Todai-ji Temple and the forested lantern-lined paths of Kasuga Shrine. Meals B

Day 7 - Depart Kyoto
Our tour with ends this morning. Meals B

Add the Tranquil Beauty of Hakone…
On Day 4, you’ll depart Tokyo by motorcoach and ascend halfway up the slopes of Mt. Fuji to the Fifth Station. Then enjoy a relaxing cruise on picturesque Lake Ashi and overnight at a hot springs resort in Hakone National Park. The next day, you continue on to Kyoto by Bullet Train to resume your tour. We include two meals, sightseeing, all transportation between Tokyo, Hakone and Kyoto and a choice of the first class Kowaki-en Hotel for an additional $800 per person – or the charming and luxurious Hyatt Regency Resort for $1,000 per person.
