Day 2: DELHI AT LEISURE
Welcome to India! On arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, you are greeted with a traditional floral garland and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, join your Tour Director for a Welcome Reception with a delicious meal.(Welcome Reception)
Day 3: DELHI SIGHTSEEING
Ride by rickshaw through the lanes of Chandni Chowk bazaar in Old Delhi. See the Red Fort, visit the Gandhi memorial at Raj Ghat and the Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque. Continue to Gandhi Smriti, the house where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life. See the Qutub Minar and drive along the Rajpath past the India Gate and Parliament House to visit the Tomb of Humayun. Finish with an insight into the local religion at a colourful temple.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 4: DELHI - JAIPUR
Drive to the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur where there is time to freshen up and enjoy your luxury hotel’s superb facilities. Later, visit a nearby private estate for a sunset elephant safari. After a welcome drink, board your elephant’s cushioned seat for the trek through the forest, past village hamlets and fields to the camp where high tea awaits. An amazing experience.(Buffet Breakfast / Afternoon Tea)
Day 5: JAIPUR SIGHTSEEING
Ascend by jeep to the Amber Fort, its royal halls decorated with intricate ivory, mirrors, glass and exquisite paintings. Lunch is included at restaurant 1135 AD which brings to life the magic of Maharaja’s court in the heart of Amber Fort. Back in Jaipur, see the ‘Hawa Mahal’ (The Palace of Winds) and visit the city Palace Museum and royal observatory.(Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Lunch)
Day 6: JAIPUR - AGRA
Set off this morning for the majestic Laxmi Vilas Palace in Bharatpur where lunch is served. This afternoon, visit the ancient Mughul capital of Fatehpur Sikri, a deserted city full of architectural wonder. Drive on to Agra where you attend a spectacular stage musical production, which follows the ‘Saga of Love’ that inspired the Taj Mahal.(Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Lunch)
Day 7: AGRA SIGHTSEEING
Agra’s fine heritage is revealed today. Appreciate the flawless marble symmetry of this exquisite Taj Mahal, built by an emperor in memory of his beloved wife. Move on to the impressive Agra Fort to explore the palatial Royal Pavilions and gardens. At dinner this evening, enjoy mouth watering dishes.(Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 8: AGRA - ORCHHA - KHAJURAHO
After breakfast transfer to the train station and board the Shatabdi Express to Jhansi. Rejoin your coach and visit the nearby citadel at Orchha, containing grand 16th Century palaces and temples. Lunch is included at the Orchha Resort before continuing to Khajuraho. Tonight the Sound and Light show introduces you to one India’s ‘seven wonders’ - the medieval Hindu and Jain temples, famous for their erotic sculpture.(Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Lunch)
Day 9: KHAJURAHO - VARANASI
There is time this morning to gain a deeper understanding of Khajuraho’s World Heritage listed monuments. This afternoon transfer to the airport for the short flight to Varanasi, the holy city of India. This evening take in a special spiritual experience as you witness the holy Hindu Aarti ceremony at the crowded riverside steps of the Ganges.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 10: VARANASI SIGHTSEEING
Enjoy tea or coffee at the hotel before embarking on a boat cruise to witness the early morning scenes of devotion on Ganges. Return to the hotel for breakfast followed by a brief city tour visiting some famous temples. Your adventure continues at nearby Sarnath, the deer park where the Buddha preached his first sermon. Visit the museum which rates among the most important in India.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 11: VARANASI - KATHMANDU
For those who wish, there’s an early morning yoga session at the Ganges Ghats (if possible) where the air is filled with spirituality. After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your short flight to Nepal, a mystical country nestled in the folds of the Himalayas. Relax at your exquisite hotel.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 12: KATHMANDU SIGHTSEEING
The beating heart of Kathmandu is Durbar Square and ancient Royal Palace complex, laced with myriad temples, courtyards, statues and home of the Kumari (the living Goddess). On the outskirts of town visit Swayambhunath, the most ancient and enigmatic of the valley’s holy shrines. Continue to Patan to visit to the sky piercing temple of the Teleju, Statue of Yogendra Malla and Tibetan Handicraft Centre.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 13: KATHMANDU SIGHTSEEING
There is an optional flight to Mt Everest this morning. Then visit the ancient capital of Bhadgaon, the main square containing innumerable temples and architectural showpieces. Continue to Bodhnath, a colossal stupa, and Nepal’s most important Buddhist site. View also one of the holiest Hindu shrines, Pashupatinath Temple on the banks of the Bagmati. At this evening’s Celebration Dinner enjoy drinks and authentic Nepalese cuisine at an outdoor venue.(Buffet Breakfast / Celebration Dinner)
Day 14: KATHMANDU - DELHI
Take the morning flight to Delhi and check in to your hotel in the city’s growing business and entertainment district. The rest of the day is at leisure for shopping or relaxation.(Buffet Breakfast)
